Exporting Print Shop Graphics

PRINT SHOP ENSEMBLE III is equipped with over 4000 high-quality images which are very relevant to classroom work, and the new Premier version, introduced in Year 4, offers even more. Very often, you may find the need to export these graphics into other projects not necessarily created with PSE3 itself.

The PSE3 graphics are created in a special format which only PSE3 can read, so you cannot just go into Kid Pix or PowerPoint and expect to simply load the graphics from there. Year 3 teachers have no problem as most of the same graphics are now available in the Deluxe version of Kid Pix. But how can the graphics be exported to other programs?

There is a way through the Graphics Exporter, which can be accessed from within PSE3 itself or else as a separate program. What Graphics Exporter does is actually re-save the desired graphic on your hard disk in a format of your own choice and which other programs can easily read. Windows Bitmap format (.bmp) is the only one which Kid Pix can read, so if you wish to use a PSE3 graphic in Kid Pix, you must first run Graphics Exporter, select the desired graphic and click the Export button.

You have the option of giving the graphic any title you like. You can also determine in which format the graphic is to be saved, by selecting from the List Files of Type. PowerPoint can accept mostly any format options available, but other applications may be more restrictive. You will have to check with the particular software you want to work with.

One word of caution: when exporting PSE3's original files into other formats, especially .bmp, most of the high quality is lost. PSE3's original files are vector-based, making it possible to enlarge and reduce them without losing any of their quality. This feature is lost once the graphics are exported into another format, so do not expect the same quality standard when using them in other applications.
